Neoscopio
Neoscopio is a Portuguese Open Source software company with extensive experience in developing Open Source solutions for enterprises and public institutions. Its technology strategy is closely aligned with the growing demand for digital sovereignty, helping organizations retain control over their data, infrastructure, and critical digital assets.
Recently, Neoscopio developed NeoMeet, an Open Source videoconferencing platform, and VozCopio, a state-of-the-art automatic speech recognition model for European Portuguese. Released under an Open Weights approach, the model can be freely used for transcription tasks and integrated into both Open Source and commercial software applications.
Currently in collaboration with academic partners including the University of Porto (FEUP and FLUP) and ISCTE (Lisbon), we are developing a digital sovereignty auditing platform designed to measure and assess the digital sovereignty index of organizations, specifically in relation with a growing AI use. This initiative builds upon the European Commission's European Technological Sovereignty Package, published on 3 June 2026, which promotes the adoption of Open Source technologies as a strategic pillar of European digital autonomy.
The project also draws inspiration from the implementation work initiated by the Technical University of Munich, adapting its methodology and framework to the Portuguese institutional, business, and public-sector reality.
